At Studio Felt, you’ll find wheel-throwing classes — the technique I have chosen for my work and creative practice. It all started with a course I booked without many expectations, simply looking for a different kind of creative experience. One session was enough to completely captivate me.

Working with clay on the wheel allows for a deep, almost complete focus on the clay and on the hands shaping it — so deep that the mind quiets down, and the outside world, with all its worries and difficulties, falls silent for a while. You enter a state of flow, almost like meditation, finding a balance between calm and concentration.

You learn through repetition, and you learn through patience: clay has its own rules and its own timing, and you have to learn how to listen to it and guide it.

Since that course I took almost by chance, the wheel has never left me. And I want to share a little of that feeling with those who are looking for the same thing: a moment for yourself, a chance to unwind and slow down, a little escape — creating something with your own hands.

Wheel Taster

Never touched a pottery wheel before? This is where to start. In one hands-on session you'll get a real feel for the potter’s wheel — how the clay moves and behaves, how to centre it and to shape it. No previous experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

You will cover just the first step of the process, the throwing — if you want to learn the full process right away, have a look at the intensive course (link) — but you'll leave with a genuine sense of what working at the wheel feels like and how a ceramic piece comes to life from a lump of clay. Then I'll take care of the rest: refining and glazing your pieces in a glaze of your choice from my studio selection.

You're in the right place if:
  • You've always been curious about pottery but never tried it
  • You want to get a real feel for the wheel before committing to a longer course
  • You're looking for something fun and hands-on to do — with something nice to bring home with you at the end
  • You're not afraid of getting your hands dirty. In fact, you can't wait!
Session details
  • 1 sessions of 2.5 hours
  • Language: English
  • 2 to 4 participants per group
  • Open to anyone aged 16 and over
  • All materials and firing costs included for 2 pieces

 Intensive Wheel Course

From your very first lump of clay to a finished, fired piece — in five weeks we'll cover everything in between. You'll learn to wedge, centre, open and pull up the clay, shape it, add handles, and finish with glazing. Every class is tailored to where you are in your learning, so whether you're a complete beginner or have touched clay before, the course adapts to you.

You're in the right place if:
  • You want more than a taster session — a structured course that gives you the real tools to keep throwing on the wheel independently
  • You're looking for something to do with your hands, away from screens and overthinking
  • You love the idea of bringing home something you made yourself — and actually using it every day
  • You're not afraid of getting your hands dirty with clay. In fact, you can't wait!
Session details
  • 5 sessions of 2.5 hours each — same day and time every week
  • 12.5 hours total
  • Language: English
  • 2 to 4 participants per group
  • Open to anyone aged 16 and over
  • All materials and firing costs included

If a session falls on a public holiday, we'll either extend the course by one week or find an alternative date together. If you need to miss a class, we'll do our best to offer you a make-up session before or after your scheduled date.

Guided Wheel Practice

Have you already learned the basics of wheel throwing and are looking for a place to practise regularly? Guided Wheel Practice is designed for potters who want to build confidence, develop their skills, and spend dedicated time working on their own projects in a studio environment.

During these sessions, you'll work independently at your own pace, using the wheel and planning your work according to your goals and experience level. I'll be present in the studio throughout the session to supervise, answer questions, and step in when needed to help troubleshoot a technical issue, correct a mistake, or improve a specific part of your process.

Please note that these sessions are not private lessons. The focus is on independent practice, with guidance and support available when needed. If you're looking for structured teaching or one-to-one instruction, a course may be a better fit.

You're in the right place if:
  • You already have experience working on the pottery wheel.
  • You'd like regular access to a studio space without setting up your own workshop at home.
  • You occasionally need feedback, troubleshooting, or technical guidance while practising.
  • You're comfortable working independently and managing the different stages of the ceramic process.
  • You got hooked with pottery and the wheel and you can’t stop practicing!

How it works

You can book individual sessions or purchase session packages through the studio calendar.

Each session lasts 3 hours and includes:

  • Use of the pottery wheel and studio space
  • Clay and basic materials
  • Storage of your work between sessions
  • Studio supervision and technical support when needed

Firing is charged separately at €12/kg, calculated based on the final weight of your finished pieces after the glaze firing. This fee includes both the bisque firing and the glaze firing.

Session details
  • Individual 3-hour sessions, available as single bookings or in packages of 5 or 10 sessions
  • Language: Italian / English
  • Small groups of 1 to 4 participants
  • Open to anyone aged 16 and over
  • Clay, materials, and studio use included
  • Firing not included – charged separately at €12/kg, based on the final weight of the pieces after the glaze firing.

Managing your work

Guided Wheel Practice requires a degree of independence, not only at the wheel but also in planning your workflow.

Participants are responsible for organising the different stages of their work, particularly scheduling enough time for throwing, trimming, and glazing.

I will do my best to store and cover your work appropriately between sessions, according to the needs of each piece. However, it is the student's responsibility to plan their practice so that pieces are trimmed and completed at the correct stage of dryness.

For health and safety reasons, working on completely dry pottery is not permitted in the studio, as it creates harmful airborne dust. If a piece becomes too dry to be trimmed or worked on safely, it will need to be discarded.

Glazing and firing

Students are responsible for glazing their own work.

Before the final firing, it is important that glaze is applied correctly and that the bottoms of all pieces are thoroughly cleaned. Improper glazing can damage kiln shelves and affect other students' work.

I'm happy to answer questions and provide guidance, but the final responsibility for preparing work for firing rests with the student.

Firings are carried out periodically, depending on kiln loads and the studio schedule.

Both the bisque firing and the glaze firing generally take between 2 and 3 weeks to complete. Timelines may vary slightly depending on studio workload and firing schedules.

I will let you know as soon as your work is ready for the next stage. You'll be contacted when pieces are ready to glaze and again when they are ready to be collected from the studio.

Please keep these timelines in mind when planning your practice sessions and projects.
